The Ascension
Hovering at the edge
Of the cliff,
I lift my head up and
Test the wind.
Satisfied, I ponder briefly
The scenic panorama,
The lake, mountains, and rivers all place here
For my enjoyment.
With a wild cry of
Joy, I plummet,
Falling, falling, until at the last second I
Spread my wings.
The wind catches me,
Plays with me,
Sending me soaring with updrafts,
Tumbling with downdrafts.
My feathers ruffle and
The wind caresses.
I am one
With the sky.
